My first job was in Starbucks and it was the worst. Even the free caramel Frappuccinos couldn’t make up for the horrible cleaning, the rude customers and an even worse boss.
But if you’re in the same situation trying to earn some extra dollar, don’t worry – it won’t be that way forever, and these celebs prove it. Remember: if Jennifer Hudson can start at Burger King and win an Oscar, you can do anything.
“I worked at McDonald’s for a good three years. I was not a great employee; I broke the orange juice machine one day.”
If Rachel McAdams served you at McDonald’s, chances are you weren’t loving it.
“A long time ago, my only real job was working at Burger King. I quit working there when I was like 17, 18, and I said, ‘You know what? Forget this!”
I bet Jennifer Hudson is glad she hung up her paper crown for good
“My first proper job in Hollywood was actually working at the Three Dog Bakery at the farmer’s market.”
Not quite what we meant by ‘Hollywood’, Emma Stone.
“I made my allowance as a kid cleaning toilets. I’m actually pretty good at it.”
Jennifer Aniston’s talents extend far beyond acting.
“My first paid job was babysitting. I’m not naturally good with babies, but out of sheer necessity I learned how to become good with them, and how to change diapers quickly. Becoming good at something you don’t particularly like was a good lesson to learn and made me ache to get good at something I loved.”
Mindy Kaling knows that every job is an opportunity to learn.
“I worked at a little smoothie shop in Florida. I mostly worked behind the register but once a week someone had to dress up as a piece of fruit and stand by the highway. I was a giant banana.”
Megan Fox, probably the best looking giant banana in the world.
“When I was 17, I worked at a bagel shop – I ate so many!”
Jenna Ushkowitz knows the true struggle of working around food.
“When I wasn’t working on Broadway, I worked in a Bat Mitzvah dress shop and was the Cinderella of the shop – always cleaning and vacuuming!”
They never give the good jobs to the new girl, Lea Michele. But were you DRESSED as Cinderella, is the question?
“I got a job when I was 15 because my allowance was about $20 a week which in New York was impossible. So I used to waitress across the street from where I grew up.”
Lady Gaga has always been a hustler. She was born that way.
