It’s National Chocolate Milkshake Day! And how better to celebrate than getting a bit creative in the kitchen and trying out some of the best chocolate milkshake recipes on the internet RN.

Let’s start with the unbeatable…

Classic chocolate milkshake

Here’s one of our fave recipes for this decadent treat.

Ingredients for ganache

– 125g dark chocolate
– 125g milk chocolate
– 125ml cream

How to make

1. Carefully heat cream and pour it over the chocolate.
2. Mix together until chocolate has melted and the mixture is combined.

Ingredients for milkshake

– 125ml ganache
– 400ml milk
– 2 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream
– Additional 120 ml of ganache
– Additional 2 scoops of ice cream for putting into the glasses.
– Whipped cream
– Chocolate Brownie (shop bought is perfect)
– Marshmallow

How to make

1. Place the ganache, milk and ice cream into a blender and mix well.
2. Spread ganache on the inside of the glasses and around the top outside edge.Add a scoop of ice cream to each one.
3. Blend the all the milkshake ingredients together and pour into the prepared glasses.
4. Pipe high with cream then add a brownie and a marshmallow.

Nutella pretzel shake

Who doesn’t love nutella, this luxury recipe will be your new favourite way to enjoy this fab spread.

Ingredients

– 125ml ganache (see above for recipe)
– 400ml milk
– 2 generous scoops of ice cream
– 2 tablespoons nutella
– Additional 120ml of nutella
– Additional 2 scoops of icecream for putting into the glasses.
– Whipped cream
– Pretzels

How to make

1. In a blender put milk, ganache, a big spoon of nutella and ice cream. Blend well.
2. Smear some nutella inside the jars and around the top edge, flatten it around a bit. Then add pretzels around the top of each one.
3. Add a scoop of ice-cream and pour in the nutella milkshake.
4. Pipe the cream around the top. Then add more pretzels dipped in nutella to the top.

Chocolate Oreo Milkshake

A naughty twist on the classic using everyone’s fave biscuit, this is how to make a chocolate oreo milkshake.

Ingredients

– 1 packet oreos thins (crush 1/4 packet to use on the glasses use the rest in the shake)
– 150g milk chocolate
– 1L ice cream
– 400ml whipped cream
– 2 packets mini oreos

How to make

1. Take a tall glass and smother the top in melted chocolate.
2. Dip the chocolate into roughly chopped Oreos so they coat the glass. Place into the freezer for a couple of minutes.
3. Place a generous amount of ice cream into a blender and add oreo thins and some milk. Blend on high speed until it is smooth.
4. Add some more chocolate to the inside of the glass the pour in the shake.
5. Pipe whipped cream on top. Drizzle with chocolate and then decorate with mini oreos.
6. Serve immediately.

Mint-choc-chip shake

This seaside inspired delight tastes as good as in looks.

Ingredients

– 2 Peppermint Patties (or large chocolate cookies)
– 150g dark chocolate
– 500ml Mint Chip ice cream
– 120ml a cup whole milk
– A little green food colouring
– 50g melted white chocolate
– 1 small mint Aero bar
– 1 small Peppermint Crisp bar

How to make

1. Smash your peppermint crisps in its package and chop your Aero bar into chunks. Pour them into a small bowl.
2. Dip the rim of your jar/glass into melted dark chocolate. Garnish the top of the rim with your crushed peppermint crisps. Set aside.
3. Put a few drops of green food coloring in your melted white chocolate and mix well. Pour this into a food blender. Adding the rest of the dark chocolate milk and mint chip ice cream. Blend together.
4. Pour your shake into your mason jar.
