Even Beyoncé needs her mum: 10 celebs talk about their parents

Yes, sometimes they can get on our nerves, and we don’t always see eye to eye, but deep down we know that parents are some of the most important people in our lives. They feed us, clothe us, and boy do they make us laugh with their inability to work an iPhone.

Here are some of our celebrity faves on what their parents mean to them. Let’s hear it for the ’rents!

“I get my sense of humour from my mom. There are so many quiet times you spend as a mother that aren’t glorified but are a foundation for your kids. No matter what, there was always a thick safety net under this trapeze.”

So we’ve got Tina Fey’s mum to thank for the LOLs she gives us.

“My mum and my dad are the sweetest couple.”

Rita Ora’s parents are relationship goals. Though we bet she’d still get the icks if they snogged in front of her.

“We’re best friends — she’s a very special woman. She’s been so supportive. She’s partly the reason why I have so much respect for women. I’m never going to find someone as good as my mother, am I?”

Justin Timberlake and his mum are legit besties. All together now: awwwww.

My mom is one of those people that you feel honoured to meet. And no matter who you are, you fall in love with her because she is spiritual, she’s inspiring, she’s strong, she’s funny, she’s creative, she’s talented… she’s everything that I want to be.”

Apparently even Beyoncé needs someone to look up to.

“I love my poppa bear so much. I will never be able to repay him with all the time he spent helping me reach my goals. I will be forever grateful.”

Parents sacrifice a lot for us, says Vanessa Hudgens. Let’s all take a minute to remember that.

“My mum’s a bouncy, energetic, driven, crazy woman, and my dad’s very relaxed, doesn’t say much. I have the best of both worlds in my personality.”

Ella Eyre knew how to take the best bits of her parents on board. Which is lucky, isn’t it?

“She would just take me on these adventures and we would drive around and go to towns we’d never seen before… Those adventures and those days of just running away from my problems — you’re not supposed to run away from your problems, but when you’re 13 and your friends won’t talk to you and they move when you sit down at the lunch table, and your mom lets you run from those problems, I think it’s a good thing. My mom was my escape in a lot of ways.”

To be honest, we’d like to watch a movie of Taylor Swift’s mother-daughter escape dates.

“He has always provided me a safe place to land and a hard place to launch from.”

Sure, Chelsea Clinton’s president dad had actual access to space rockets… but the metaphor still applies to normal dads too.

“I was actually supposed to be a basketball player, not an actress. My parents had me playing basketball on competitive teams when I was in kindergarten.”

So wait, even Zendaya feels like a disappointment to her parents?

“My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it.”

So that’s why Kendall Jenner’s family are so hard to keep up with.

“My Barbies were usually naked. Once, I took their heads off, cut their hair, drew on their short, spiky hair with some markers, then stuck the heads on Christmas lights. Every year, we’d string our tree with those Barbie heads. It looked demonic. My parents were so cool – they saw it as a form of self-expression.”

We’ll blame you when this one backfires with our parents, Jessica Biel.
