Everything you NTK about the new Sabrina and how it’s connected to Riverdale

There are few kids’ TV shows as well-loved as Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which spawned seven seasons, an animated spin-off, three TV movies and many, many books. Making a household name of its star, Melissa Joan Hart, Sabrina was essential viewing for every 90s and early 00s kid.

However, before there was the TV show, there was the Archie Comics series of the same name. And, following the success of Riverdale, it makes sense that Netflix want to sink their teeth into another Archie Comics adaptation.

Enter The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, which is expected to premiere on October 26, 2018, with two 10-episode seasons already ordered. So, other than where you can watch it, what else do you need to know about the new Sabrina? We’ve got all the deets…

Sabrina will be played by Kiernan Shipka

Melissa Joan Hart left some pretty big shoes to fill, but we’re confident that 18-year-old Mad Men star Kiernan will do a great job. She even has her own Salem Saberhagen IRL – well, almost. Rather than a black cat Kiernan owns a very cute black German Shepherd named Frankie. Aww!

There are a whole host of other new stars to get to grips with

Aunts Hilda and Zelda will be played by Lucy Davis (The Office) and Miranda Otto (Homeland) respectively. Sabrina’s love interest, Harvey Kinkle, will be played by absolute babe Ross Lynch. You may remember him from his role as Austin Moon on Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally, but we just can’t wait to see him take on the role of Harvey. Also, how much does he look like Harry Styles in this pic?

Like Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina is based on an Archie Comic

Think less Nickelodeon and more dark Riverdale vibes, with Deadline reporting that The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina will be “tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist.” Yikes!

At the moment there’s no Riverdale/Sabrina crossover planned

But never say never. Archie Comics CEO and Riverdale executive producer, Jon Goldwater, told TVLine, “Right now, we’re not thinking about that. They’re two separate entities for right now.” That being said, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina is being written by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and there was crossover in the comic books… so surely it’s only a matter of time?

Salem Saberhagen WILL feature

While there’s no word on who will voice everyone’s favourite talking cat, Salem is slated to appear in the series, so perhaps there’s room to bring back OG voice Nick Bakay?
