Fair warning here, if you’re looking for a light and fluffy feelgood series, this probably isn’t the one for you. But if you’re looking for a meaty adaptation of a childhood classic – well come right this way, we’ve got just the thing.
Netflix’s new adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, written by the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad writer and producer Moira Walley-Beckett, is darker than original the novel or the 1980s remake. But this darkness allows the show to explore some difficult themes and fully confront how difficult growing up can be. Plus, we totally get where Anne is coming from here:

The series is available now on Netflix. Or you could just cosy up with the book, for old time’s sake.
